It is sometimes hard to define the true nationality of eBuddy: We have people of 21 different nationalities working here, millions of users spread all over the world, additional offices in London and San Francisco and a lot of frequent flyer mileage. There is one thing that is certain though: Amsterdam is our hometown.
Amsterdam is also known as the “Venice of the North”, mainly because of its more than 100 kilometers of canals. Great parts of these canals were built in the early 17th century during the Dutch Golden Age. They were constructed for various reasons, including water management, residential development and transportation of goods. These days the canals are mostly being used for boat tours by Amsterdam residents and visitors.
eBuddy’s office is located in one of the three main canals of Amsterdam: The Keizersgracht, or “Emperor’s Canal”, named after Maximilian I, Holy Roman Emperor. The Keizersgracht houses residences and a wide variety of businesses, such as architecture bureaus, law firms, hotels, museums, restaurants and so on.
The eBuddy office is situated in a beautiful building filled with memories from its past: you can even find an 1870-dated safe from a bank that was once located here. In addition to its rich history and beauty, the location of the eBuddy office adds a special benefit: we can park the eBuddy boat right in front of the office, making a trip through Amsterdam’s canals as easy as it gets.

Stay tuned for part 2 of this post, I will show you how the office looks on the inside
