Hello! Welcome to the eBuddy blog. Here we talk about our passion, the team and our products.

Brand new Mobile Messenger

Posted by Vincent on July 29th, 2008

Hi everyone,

We are very excited to announce a brand new version of our Mobile Messenger! You can easily download it by opening your phone’s browser and going to get.ebuddy.com.

We launched the first version of the Mobile Messenger a year ago and you guys have now downloaded it over 5 million times! Big smiling faces @ eBuddy office :-D . You’re also sending & receiving more than 1 billion messages per month on eBuddy mobile!!

We’re constantly reviewing your feedback on how to make the Mobile Messenger better. Here are the most requested features we’ve added in the latest version. (BTW it also got a brand new look since we heard some of you were a bit tired of the old one ;-) )

buddylist Chat with all your friends, everywhere

Keep all of your buddies from multiple IM accounts in one list:
networks
You have friends on both MSN and Yahoo? No problem. You can now chat with them all from your mobile. And even more networks will be supported soon…

snapshot Set your avatar with your phone’s camera

Share all the cool things you do in an easy way. Set your personal message and take a brand new display picture, directly from your phone’s camera.

offline Reach your friends 24/7

We now support offline messaging. Want to talk to your buddy but he just went offline? Don’t worry; now you can send an offline message straight from your mobile. You can also receive offline messages.

As soon as you login, you’ll receive all the messages that were sent to you when you were offline.

quicksearch Find the buddy you want

We know you probably have a long buddylist with lots of contacts. That’s why the Mobile Messenger makes it very easy to find the buddy that you want to chat with most.

Simply search the contact list by selecting a letter on your keypad and you can sort your contacts in any way you want.

We hope you like it! Looking forward to reading your feedback on feedback@ebuddy.com. Our team is already working hard on cool stuff for the next release, so keep your ideas coming on what should be included!

Now grab your phone and get the coolest eBuddy to date at get.ebuddy.com.

Enjoy mobile messaging for everyone everywhere!
Vincent

Wow, really really great! All my IM’s in one nifty program. Except IRC… is that going to make an appearance in a later version maybe? The only other solution for me is jmirc, which looks absolutely primitive compared to this.

  19. Mohaymen Says: August 12th, 2008 at 9:56 am

    Hi,

I have been using ebuddy mobile for at least two years, its the best mobile messenger out there. The new beta looks and feels even better with great new features. But unfortunately one of the most important feature was removed from this version. That is “sign in as invisible” mode. Older versions and every other messnger client already have this important feature. Please add this feature, because without this feature its not always possible to use the messenger, and I dont really wanna use any other clients as ebuddy is the best messenger available.

  20. murad Says: August 14th, 2008 at 3:10 am

    and iam so grateful

  21. Vincent Says: August 14th, 2008 at 8:58 am

@Mohaymen Thanks for your comment! The ’sign in as invisible’ option is definitely on our to-do list, so please keep an eye on this blog for updates

  25. Loner Says: August 17th, 2008 at 3:36 pm

heyy 1st of all wanna thank da ebuddy group for a job well done!! *applaud* awsome stuff people keep it up!! i saw da 0.99 version in 1 of ma friends phones and i tried to download it as well. well when i go to the ebuddy site and download ebuddy i only get the 0.94 version :( not the 0.99 version. my phonez a moto v3.. then i downloaded the 0.99 version from a site called wap.getjar.com and i installed it also but when i start ebuddy it says loading interface and suddenly ebuddy closes and the phone gives an error saying ” Application Error” anyway i can solve this ???? plzzzzz can u reply me a solution ASAP??? i really wanna use da 0.99 cuz it got da offline messaging thing :( :(

  26. Vincent Says: August 18th, 2008 at 9:32 am

@Jhay: The P735 is not supported yet. Please keep an eye on this blog for updates. For now, you can try one of the Pocket PC versions from http://get.ebuddy.com or use our Lite Messenger (http://m.ebuddy.com)

@BAmbie: eBuddy is free, but you pay your mobile operator for the internet connection. We made the application use as little data as possible, please check your operator for tariffs.

@Loner: Unfortunately your phone could not be supported for the new 0.99 version, that’s why we will keep offering the 0.94 version for your phone. If you download the 0.99 version from getjar this will indeed give some problems. For now the best is to continue using the 0.94 version, we are working to support phone’s like yours again with new features.

when i have been online for about about 30min my phone restarts itself, what could be the problem otherwise the 0.95 version is great

  29. Vincent Says: August 22nd, 2008 at 10:42 am

@emmanuel do you get an error message and if so which one? Please let us know on feedback@ebuddy.com so we can get back to you

@mulon we have a new version out there, version 0.99. Can you try if this fixes your problem? You can get it from http://get.ebuddy.com on your phone

Thanks for all the comments guys, keep them coming :-)

Hello! Well 1st of all i’d like to say that Ebuddy lite messenger is great. But i have a problem. I have the LG KU380 (which is perfectly abilited to work with Ebuddy) and i have downloaded the last version 0.99. I created an account and signed in and worked perfectly… The problem is that when i sign off and try to launch Ebuddy again it freezes at “loading interface”. I tried several things: restart the phone, delete Ebuddy and download it again (it works the 1st time), download in another language… Nothing works. Could you help me please? Because its annoying if i have to download it again everytime i want to use it. Thank you very much. Astrid

  31. Astrid Says: August 22nd, 2008 at 4:58 pm

Hi. I have a problem. I downloaded Ebuddy 0.99 for my LG KU 380. It works the 1st time but when I launch it again it freezes at “loading interface”, I mean nothing happens. I tried to download it again but it’s the same problem. Could you help me please? Thank you. Astrid

  33. Mike Falsor Says: August 23rd, 2008 at 11:27 am

I just decided to update eBuddy on my Nokia, and got a little surprised: Since when did eBuddy require that I create an eBuddy ID before I can log on to my instant messengers?

It’s a red flag, if you ask me. And suddenly there’s no reason for me to keep on using eBuddy.

  34. Mike Says: August 23rd, 2008 at 7:15 pm

Doesn’t work on Blackberry 8320 w/T-Mobile. Getting can’t connect to internet error despite having given all appropriate permissions to ebuddy. This appears to be happening with just about all 8320 users.

Gmail, Opera Mini, and other programs work fine. I have the access point settings for my provider all loaded on there and everything. Is there some special procedure for setting up Java on a 9300i?

@Astrid: I can imagine that re-installing every time is very annoying and this should not be necessary. Could you please send an email to feedback@ebuddy.com so we can contact to check how we can solve this?
    Thanks, Vincent

  44. Vincent Says: September 1st, 2008 at 11:00 am

@Mike Falsor: We launched eBuddy ID in the 0.99 version. Why an eBuddy ID? With this you can:
    1) Login all your chat accounts at once with one username on all our products
    2) Get a free mobile instant messaging application on your phone
    3) Get more features, exclusively for eBuddy ID users, that will be added in new versions

  45. Vincent Says: September 1st, 2008 at 11:10 am

@Mike: You need to configure your Blackberry so Java applications can connect to the internet. We know this unfortunately is not very easy, but see more information here http://www.blackberryforums.com/blackberry-network/2185-blackberry-internet-msn-chat-web-telnet-tcpip-no-bes.html

  46. Vincent Says: September 1st, 2008 at 11:12 am

@meme The easiest way to get eBuddy on your phone is by opening you phone’s browser and go to http://get.ebuddy.com Here you can download the correct version for your phone and install it.

  52. Vincent Says: September 4th, 2008 at 8:50 am

@Cavelle: thanks for your feedback :-) The volume of the alert depends on your specific phone. Could you let us know which phone you have on feedback@ebuddy.com, so we can have a look?

  53. Vincent Says: September 4th, 2008 at 8:57 am

When i use 0.94 and i leave it while i sleep for 1.5 hours..It only consume about 15% of my battery..

Now..I online with 0.99, only online 5 minutes and consume 5% of my battery?
Yah..I’m really waiting for 1.0, i hope this version has many bugfixes and MSN>YM or YM>MSN chatting feature….

This worked for the Blackberry Pearl 8120

You need to configure your Blackberry so Java applications can connect to the internet. We know this unfortunately is not very easy, but see more information here http://www.blackberryforums.com/blackberry-network/2185-blackberry-internet-msn-chat-web-telnet-tcpip-no-bes.html

When it does work it moves too slowly when I’m typing a message and then back to the error messages. Please address this matter as I look forward to using ebuddy. Thank you.
