Great news. Facebook chat has replaced personal IM with friends for me, so this improvement was greatly needed.

I cannot seem to access facebook chat at all its not loading my contacts and they aren’t all offline cos one of my mates is on it and I can’t see him and he can’t see me!!!! is there a problem with it?

It would be of great help if you send a screenshot (press print screen and paste in your email program) to feedback@ebuddy.com when you get an error.

I emailed yesterday about facebook chat and saying how I could sign in but I could see none of my facebook contacts online and they couldn’t see me!

I noticed that you replied about a screenshot for some people, but for me I seem to be able to sign in without any error messages it’s just everyone appears offline to me and I appear offline to them so assuming it’s a minor teething problem.

But thought I would let you know.

Still can’t login. Used to get an error saying wrong password or user name. Now no error message, just doesn’t login.

I have just signed up. MSN and Gtalk are good but Facebook gives error: You have been signed out, without any further notice.

YEAH!! That’s great news. I’ve been using facebook as for conversing with friends and family instead of IM chat for ages now. I just found out about eBuddy and it is fantastic, specially because of the facebook chat feature. Thanks a lot for creating such a great app.

I just discovered this app today, so I’m assuming I’ve got the most up to date version, I can log into google chat no worries, but facebook chat is no good. I’m running it on a nokia n82.

It’s great that eBuddy exists, but: facebook login still doesn’t work. Not through a webbrowser (Safari, Firefox, IE8) on the laptop or through the iPhone (OS3, 3G).

I log onto facebook but then the ebuddy verification text asks for my birth date. I enter it in the exact format it asks, but it says “I didnt get that. Please enter the date correctly…”

And on the iPhone app, it just crashes the whole app.

Think maybe eBuddy needs to add grants in facebook to allow external apps to connect to facebook.

Looks like it’s a problem with ebuddy, I tried deleting my facebook login (which gave an error), and now I can’t create a new one (just sits doing nothing)

i have not downloaded FB Chat but use it from my browser. Should I be able to see all my FB buddies [on and offline ] or do i need to add them manually. also what is the no entry sign in front of certain names?

i use a htc hero/t-mobile G2 Touch, both my myspace and facebook accounts disappeared from my ebuddy account, when i try to add them it says ‘the given account could not be added please verify if the supplied information is correct and please try again!’
but the account information i put in is definately correct.
please help, both accounts were working fine before they disappeared.

you can use ebuddy without downloading it. just go to browser and put ebuddy into your browsers. Easy.

I’m sorry but it has to be said. You guys at ebuddy are morons. This blog comments section stretches all the way back to June and almost everyone is experiencing the same couple of issues. You you cannot fix these issues within 6 months so no one should be downloading your software. In my case ebuddy works fine for MSN but fails miserably when trying to use it for Facebook chat - I just keep getting the same stupid reply when trying to send my birth date information “I didn’t get that…. blah blah blah” Why the hell am I even sending my birthday info?? I can think of one quick way to get rid of this stupid problem STOP ASKING FOR PEOPLE TO SEND THEIR BIRTHDAY INFO! Because you can’t fix your stupid software within 6 months I am uninstalling ebuddy from my iPhone - I’ll use something else thank you very much!

I’ve got a problem with minimizing & sending pictures with my ebuddy , The minimizing has never been there for mine but up until last week I could send pictures so I don’t know what the problem is. I’m using a Nokia 6303C and when I try to send a picture I get an error message and the application closes all together , it’s pretty annoying XD

I have just downloaded the e.buddy application from the App store on the iphone - and I get an error message crop up on my screen saying “Error - Could not sign in *my email address* (Facebook), please try again.”

So what does that all mean? A friend of mine reckons it’s because I don’t live in an area providing 3G. Is this a particular requirement for e.buddy to run, or can I still use it with just an ordinary mobile internet signal. I am on O2 if this helps.

Hey everyone - I HAVE THE ANSWER.

As many people on this forum have, I have downloaded eBuddy (for my Sony Ericsson W995) and then come across the date of birth issue when trying to get Facebook Chat to work on it.

As mentioned by many others above, it specifically tells you how to type it (ie: the American format of month/date/year - 05/08/1984) but it doesn’t work. Nor does it work if you switch it around to the English way.

However, I tried one last thing and now it works perfectly.. I put “May/08/1984″.

TYPE THE MONTH AS A WORD AND YOU SHOULD BE OKAY.

It was working fine two months ago but now when i’m on facebook chat on ebuddy, my friends who are online would call me to inform me that I would appear offline everytime I sent out a facebook chat message. Looking at the long list of similar complaints here, it would appear that ebuddy has not fixed this problem. Are there any other applications out there besides ebuddy? Hi I am having the same issues as others above. I will send but not be able to receive and I go online and offline to friends randomly. I am currently using ebuddy that came preInstalled on my Archos 5 IT running the Android OS.
It is as bad as when i was trying to use my iPod touch for facebook chat it was nothing but crap.

And the same day, I get a message telling me about suspicious activity on my Facebook account, where someone (probably) in America is trying to access my account. Is this ebuddy?

and afterwards i received a message on facebook about suspicious activity from America….what’s wrong? why i can’t connect? Is the ‘activity from America’ eBuddy?

@Medved, glad you can connect. But do you appear online to your friends in ebuddy? There appears to be two sets of problems - One, unable to connect to fb chat. Two, able to connect but friends will see you as offline and are unable to receive your chat messages. It’s been 9 months since Ebuddy updated this thread. They are still ignoring all our complaints here.

ok last post, simple fix to my own problem - On Facebook, go to account settings and untr security set notifications to “no”, remove any paired devices and click submit…works like a charm!

I think, the problem started from last week.
It may be because facebook introduced a new security settings Under Account–> Account Settings
Here You will find a question under “Account Security” option:
—Would you like to receive notifications for logins from new devices? Yes/No.

Anyway, I tried with 3 best mobile chat apps. Mig33 v4.2, ebuddy v1.5 & nimbuzz v1.7

Result is:
ebuddy - cant even log in.
Mig33 - can log in but disconnects immediately
Nimbuzz - OK

BTW, y! msngr, google chat, twitter, Win msngr - all found OK in the apps though.

So U can use Nimbuzz until they fix it or a new version comes out.

Facebook used to work for me but recently started failing to login.

my facebook account worked for days, then all of a sudden it wouldnt log me in….it said that i had an invalid user name or password, but i know it is right…….

Facebook issue, cannor log in anymore even with the right username and password, I even tried to reinstall the apps but result the same.

I had the same problem. I think that Facebook may have changed their security if the eBuddy app hasn’t changed. After factory re-setting my HTC Desire and re-installing eBuddy, Facebook chat worked once!

Facebook then recognises that someone has tried to access the account from a new location and blocks the account. I have changed passwords three times and now they are asking me to identify contacts from random photos!

Yeah, I’m havin the same problem as everyone above and I agree with facebook changing their security. I’d wondered why when I logged in to facebook it said access from overseas but I just thought meh and clicked that I recognized it. The one time I clicked that I didn’t recognize it it stopped facebook chat from workin for me. It logs me in, but it says all my contacts are offline, which I highly doubt.

ok so facebook just told me that a “computer” tried to access my account from Peru. Is this ebuddy?? If it is I will authorise it. But FB has it as unidentified. If this IS ebuddy, then you guys need to talk to FB and ensure they identify IM partner servers with actual names for end users
