Hello! Welcome to the eBuddy blog. Here we talk about our passion, the team and our products.

The upcoming eBuddy Mobile Messenger

Posted by JJK on June 10th, 2008

As stated in a previous post, there is a new version of eBuddy Mobile Messenger coming up.
We already have a few (say…over 500 :-) ) beta testers that are testing and giving feedback and are quite enthusiastic. I wanted to show you this feedback mail that we got from a happy Beta tester:

Dear Ebuddy,

I’m pretty impressed with the application this time round. Key features i really wanted in this upgrade where, display pics.. and offline mesages also i noticed you can now send offline messages. Overall i think this application has to be givin a 9/10. I’m not sure what you can improve on this product at the moment as this version clearly meets everything that i would want from my messenger. Probably maybe in the future enable custom emotions and the visual of other contacts custom emotions. Just an idea if its possible. I’m currently running k800i SE mobile phone on a steady connection. While i have been online i haven’t experienced any random disconnections. I’m pleased 100% this time round. I understand you might think well where are the negatives…. Erm i haven’t come across any as of yet, but i will keep you posted. Good Job keep up the good work.

Regards,
Mick.

Thanks Mick! :-D Of course, we also receive some issues that need to be solved. And some (though not many) of the old models are not supported anymore (or yet) with this one. Most notably the Motorola V3i, for which we accidentally sent out some invites. Oops.
Overall though, we get very positive feedback.

If you want to try the new version of eBuddy Mobile Messenger in beta, so with some bugs, drop us a mail at feedback@ebuddy.com.

Cheers!

JJ

you can add networks to your eBuddy account directly after creating it.
And in the settings menu on the accounts tab.

Its worth noting that T Mobile are blocking downloads of your application, therefore the only way to install is to write down the address of the java application, download it on your pc, then transfer it to the phone with the data cable. You might want to add this information to your FAQ together with easier to use links because the URL is long!

How do I get mobile eBuddy to work with my Yahoo ID @ymail.com ? Yahoo started giving out accounts at ymail.com and rocketmail.com last month, and I wrote info@ebuddy.com last month about this, but I still can’t use my Yahoo ymail.com YID.

Running on SE Z750a AT&T phone. AT&T lock phone down so you can only allow Ask for each connection for untrusted Application. So you constantly get the Allow Connection Dialogue when using ebuddy mobile. Is there anyway you can get the apps signed so I can select the Ask Once per session option on my phone. Thanks!

  40. Phil Says: July 19th, 2008 at 6:11 am

I am having the same issue with an AT&T phone using the downloadable eBuddy program. It will not allow me to give the program full net permission and constantly asks if it can connect. This happens about every 6 seconds. I have been using the browser version lately.

Any new developments on this application? I have been eagerly waiting for an update. I really love this program, however it constantly restarts my phone (Nokia N95-3) when the data connection (EDGE) is lost or put on hold (during an incoming/outgoing call). Hopefully you will figure out a way to fix this problem as this is the best chat application out by far!

  45. Brenda Says: August 7th, 2008 at 4:36 pm

Everytime I log on to ebuddy I have someone who wants to join my contant list. I refuse them becasue I don’t know them. But even though I say no, they show up on my contact list, then I delete them. They are automatically added to my contact list everytime I sign on, even though I say do not add. What am I doing wrong? How can I get rid of this person?
    Thanks.
