eBuddy for iPhone: New Update!
Good news! As of today, a new and improved eBuddy for iPhone app is available in the App Store!
We’ve been working very hard the past few months to improve the basis of our app to be able to provide you with the best quality now and in the future. It’s not been easy, but we’re very happy with the results
. So, what did we do exactly?
We listened to your requests
We receive a lot of feedback from you (thanks!) and we wanted to address some of the top requests.
eBuddy is faster – especially at startup
We’ve made several speed improvements, especially at startup. You might notice this the first time you start eBuddy after you upgrade. This is because we do some technical optimizations on your chats first. This is roughly what you will see:

Copy-and-paste chat messages
Another thing you requested is to be able to copy and paste your chats. Now you can just long-press on a bubble and choose to copy the text in it. Quite handy!
.

Maximum Push Notifications
With Push Notifications you can stay online after you close the app and still be notified when you have new messages. The maximum time you could stay online so far has been 12 hours.
That’s now changed. Now you have the possibility to set your Push Notifications timeout to ‘Max’! This is currently at least 12 hours minimum, but we will slowly extend it automatically in the future. And, if you want to stop the notifications, simply logout of the app!
Updated looks
We also wanted to refresh the look-and-feel of a few screens, and give you a better way of using the chat options and emoticons.
New buddy list – with display pictures!
Your well-known buddy list has had a makeover! The biggest change: We added display pictures for all your buddies
. We also cleaned things up a bit, so you can find your buddies more easily. Here’s an example:

Revamped chat screen
The Chat screen also got a new look-and-feel. First of all, we put the chat options (Buzzer, Buddy Info, etc.) into an easily accessible menu. Just press the button on the right of the chat field.
We also changed how you can use emoticons by moving it ‘behind’ the keyboard. Now MSN (Windows Live Messenger) users also have a lot more emoticons to choose from
.
Below is an example of the new chat screen with the emoticons view opened
.

That’s it for now. We really hope you enjoy this new update.
We’ve done a lot of changes to the app as well as a lot of testing, but there is always a small chance that you might run into issues. If this happens, please let us know by sending a crash report when the app asks for this, or simply send an email to our feedback address with a description of your issue, so we can fix it as soon as possible for you.
Happy Chatting!
- Ivar
