The people behind eBuddy: Tonatiuh

As the second interview in this “The people behind eBuddy” series, we decided to choose someone who can represent the cultural diversity of eBuddy. Ladies and gentlemen, meet Tonatiuh Romero!

So Tonatiuh, how about you introduce yourself to our readers?

As you already know my name is Tonatiuh, which comes from the Aztec mythology. Fancy, eh? ;-) I am 32 years old and come from Guadalajara, the second biggest city in Mexico. Here at eBuddy I work as a Quality Assurance Engineer.

You are a long way from home! How did you end up at eBuddy?

I always had an interest for different cultures. Once when browsing the Web, I found this opportunity to work at eBuddy. I stared at the job opening for a week, wondering if I would be ready to face a challenging job on the other side of the ocean. After a lot of thinking, I decided it was time for a change, applied for the job and now here I am!

Nice! And how are you enjoying being part of the company?

I am having a great time. The company is filled with talented people from all over the world, which has been a great learning experience. The environment is fun and rewarding, where we work hard but also enjoy company barbeques, parties and boat trips through Amsterdam.

How are you enjoying life in Amsterdam?

Overall I like it very much, but just like every other city, it has its ups and downs. Amsterdam is great because it is a multicultural city, very open to foreigners. Also, life is very organized here: you can safely bike around the city, public transport works very well and so on.
But it is not all roses: I arrived last December during the coldest winter in decades, which can be pretty tough for a Mexican. ;) Also, finding a nice house to live is a very lengthy and difficult process.

And how would you describe your job at eBuddy?

You could say that I am a representative of the eBuddy users. On one hand I help back-end to make sure all our new features and products are user-friendly, and on the other I work very hard on fixing issues so all users can have the best possible chat experience on eBuddy!

Thanks for your time Tony!

Who would you like us to interview next? Someone from the Sales team? Maybe Marketing, or even Management? Help us decide!
