Hello! Welcome to the eBuddy blog. Here we talk about our passion, the team and our products.

Lite Messenger: most requested features added

Posted by Vincent on March 20th, 2008

We launched our new eBuddy Lite Messenger a few months ago and asked you guys to share your thoughts on what features to add next. We received an enourmous amount of feedback and new ideas and decided to put you in the driver seat by implementing them. We added the most requested features in an update released today.

The newly added features are:

  • Attend conferences
    Join your MSN, YAHOO and AIM friends in conferences! You can now have group chats with many friends at once, just like our Web Messenger.
eBuddy Lite Messenger
  • Send buzzers
    We heard you like to send a wake-up call to your buddies every once and a while. Good luck to them; sending buzzers to your buddies just went mobile! :D
  • Show email addresses in your buddylist
    Small screens and long funny screen names of your buddies? It can be challenging to keep up with who’s who on your mobile, but not anymore. Now, you can also display your contact list by email address. No more awkward moments where you realize you’re not talking to exactly the person you had in mind ;-)
  • Close conversations
    This one is easy. You chat a lot and like to be clear on which chats are still live. Simply close the finished conversations and they will not longer be displayed on top of your list.
  • More languages
    The Lite Messenger is now available in 26 languages!

Stay tuned for more improvements and some very cool features coming soon! In the meantime, enjoy chatting on your mobile at m.ebuddy.com!

    @Sheldon: the Lite Messenger will check for new messages automatically every 40 seconds. You can also check manually, just press Reload on top on the screen.

    @Capo: The Lite Messenger runs in the browser and the Mobile Messenger is an application you can download. We have both versions to support as many phones as possible. For your phone I would recommend the Mobile Messenger. You can download it by opening the browser on your phone and go to http://get.ebuddy.com

    @Steven:
    We replaced our previous iPhone version with the eBuddy Lite Messenger. This version runs faster and has all basic chat features. It also lets you sign in all your accounts at once. It might look less flashy than previous iPhone version, but bearing in mind the sometimes very slow mobile internet connections, you get a faster client and more features this way. We will add new features on a regular basis and also plan to make more iPhone specific adaptations. Please stay tuned and check our blog for updates.

    @Danielle: Web-cam is not supported.

    @Jhinky & Vincent: Thanks for sharing your ideas! We will inform you of new features on this blog.

    Please fix the Mobile messenger application!! I downloaded it for my Nokia n95 and I love it, however, it constantly re-boots my phone if the data connect is lost, or if I receive a phone call while I’m using the application. I’ve heard numerous people also having the same exact problem with the application constantly re-booting the phone. I think this application is great, one of the best for s60, and would be perfect if it didn’t crash so much, please try and fix this bug!, thank you!!!
